      • The Game

Control the light, to find your light

        Overview

Cast by Light is a 2D single-player puzzle platformer created for arcade, PC, and Mobile. The player controls a rotating light source, creating shadows to solve environmental puzzles.

        The Gameplay

The game revolves around physically rotating a dial on an arcade cabinet to move the in-game sun. By manipulating the direction of the emitted light, one can create shadows to create safe areas for your character. Since the sun is too bright to endure, you need to use the shadows to create a safe path through this treacherous world.

        The Character

You play as Ann, a 21-year-old girl who has been hiding in the shadows together with her partner for 3 long years. Ann might seem shy, yet she is a fearless individual who isn't afraid of extending the boundaries of what one deems unachievable.

        The World

The unsustainable consumption of resources became the anticlimactic end of civilization. Humanity can't survive without nature, but nature can survive without humanity. The year 2138, contrary to the plethora of scientific predictions, the saturation of greenhouses gases in the atmosphere didn’t directly embrace the earth in a cold layer. The unsustainable consumption of resources became the anticlimactic end of civilization. Toxins obliterated the atmosphere, consequently, the planet was no longer protected against the sun’s blazing radiance. The imminent, furthermore self-caused demise of society got Cast by Light. Merely touching the dazzling beams of heat instantly ignited, burned, and incinerated creatures into minuscule pieces of ash. Only those remaining in the shadows had a chance of survival. Only those using the shadows could withstand the wrath of the sun.
